Wayne Chandler believes it is a necessary exercise.

The “world-renowned master healer” will pass on his knowledge during a retreat aimed at caregivers next month.

“The theme is centred around the fact that healers need work upon themselves as well,” said Mr Chandler, who will lead “a powerful and in-depth” qigong session at the one-day affair.

“They are some of the sickest people on the planet because they give out so much. If they don’t have a system in place to help them regenerate themselves and recultivate their own resources energetically, they become even more susceptible than most to the various disorders that run amok out here in the world.”

He is coming here from America at the invitation of kemetic yoga instructor Latoya Bridgewater. She will join Mr Chandler in the Heal the Healers line-up alongside herbalist Doreen Williams James and sound therapist Garen Simmons.

“If you have dedicated your life to advocating for others, to being a voice for the voiceless, to helping those who are in need; if you are a mother, father, teacher, social worker, caregiver, therapist, business owner, doctor or anyone who nurtures others, now is your turn,” she said.

“It is your time to practise self-care. It is time to restore your energy, to rejuvenate and to re-centre with us.”

Restorative yoga, ion foot detox and head and neck and shoulder massage are among the treatments that will be on offer to give caregivers “the ultimate rejuvenation and relaxation experience”.

Mr Chandler, an author and inspirational speaker, is eager to show how they can help their clients without negatively impacting their own health.

“I will be passing on specific techniques or tools that they can use that’s going to allow them to be more effective and efficient in terms of how they heal their clients/patients without using too much of their own life-force energy,” he said.

“It puts a ceiling on how much of their own energy they’re utilising in their own specific modality.”

His book, Ancient Future, is an attempt to make the experience of “those ancient civilisations that did not dissociate the philosophical, spiritual, and material realms of life”, a reality in the 21st century. According to the author, it has sold more than one million copies since its 1999 release.

“It covers a lot of ground conceptually,” he said. “It’s based on seven universal principles and how they impact our lives on a daily basis.”

His journey as a healer began several years ago, his interest sparked by his studies in nutrition and diet.

“From there I got into examining plant medicine and looking at the various particulates and alkaloids that plants had that could also be used for healing.”

Once he discovered acupressure, acupuncture and shiatsu, he began to delve deeper into the benefits of “energy medicine”, starting his formal training in 1998.

“It’s where you’re pressing specific points or using specific points to release specific frequencies from these points of energy as well as dissipate stagnant energy [which] creates various inflammatory conditions that create the various diseases we are challenged with,” Mr Chandler said.

“I continued to build on that, looking for the most efficient ways of cultivating my own internal energy or power and how to utilise that and rectify congestive conditions in the human body.”

Eighty-five per cent of his clients are scattered around the world. Their concerns range from cancer to stress, Mr Chandler claims he is able to treat “any and everything” from his Cleveland, Ohio, home.

“A lot of my healing is based on quantum physics,” he said. “Within the construct of quantum physics you have the idea of a holographic reality and this is where remote healing comes into play. Remote healing, basically, is distant healing. So it doesn’t matter where on the planet the individual may reside, I can lock into their specific feeling and get a healing process.”

It works, he explained, because “everything in our reality is connected”. As such, he says, location doesn’t matter.

“I have them send me a picture and ask what it is they need in terms of the condition challenging them. I then look into my healing system to see if there’s a protocol I can use for that particular challenge that they’re having.

“So projection of energy is one of [my] tools. The more [you can] refine, cultivate and utilise your skill of energy projection, the more powerful you will be as a healer. Visualisation is one of the main keys and that’s why I request a picture. They also have to send their name.

“What it is, is that I use my energy to activate their own systems of healing so they can now heal themselves.

The only thing that I request from them is to be quiet, to lay down for the duration of the healing procedure. Then I get in touch with them when it’s all said and done.

“I’ve learnt that the energy and frequencies you’re using are more readily absorbed when the person you’re working on is at rest.”

Who Heals the Healers will take place at 27 King Street on February 16 between 10am and 4pm. For more information contact Latoya Bridgewater on info@emw.yoga or 595-4105. Tickets, $210, are available at https://bit.ly/2sC4IbY. Learn more about Wayne Chandler at waynebchandler.com
