Dive Bermuda has gained a place in TripAdvisor’s Hall of Fame after a five-year run of excellent reviews from customers.

To reach Hall of Fame status businesses have to achieve an average of four-star reviews or above annually — out of a possible five stars — for five consecutive years. That’s what Dive Bermuda has done.

Mark Diel, co-owner of the business that is located on the private beach at Fairmont Southampton, is delighted with the accolade.

“We have been very lucky with the staffing. We have superb managers who have instilled very high levels of professionalism and in the way they look after the guests. It is about having fun, but doing it with safety,” he said, adding that this is reflected in customers’ reviews that contributed to the business receiving five consecutive certificates of excellence from influential travel website company TripAdvisor.

Dive Bermuda provides snorkelling, diving and beach rentals, and is used by visitors and locals. The business was acquired in 2012 by Mr Diel, a director at law firm Marshall Diel & Myers Limited, and re/insurance veteran David Brown.

Mr Diel has a passion for diving. During his university years he spent his summers working as a diving instructor, and he continues to enjoy the pursuit.

He said: “I’m there every weekend. I help with the guiding, but I leave the teaching to the guys [at the shop] who do it day in and day out. We have been very fortunate to be able to please most of the people, all of the time.”
