A physiotherapy clinic is today celebrating the 20th anniversary of its opening to provide services to the island.

Shirlene Dill, a registered Bermudian physiotherapist, opened the Hands On Therapy Physiotherapy Clinic on June 1, 1998. It was originally based in Hamilton, and moved to another six locations before finally settling in Warwick.

Ms Dill said: “When I initially opened my clinic, it was about helping people without bureaucracy and red tape, and to give the best quality service that I could. This is all still true today.”

She obtained her physiotherapy degree at Temple University, in Philadelphia, more than 35 years ago. She believes having a diverse background and a vast amount of experience has contributed to the growth of the business.

Ms Dill has contributed to the profession of physiotherapy in Bermuda through her involvement with a number of boards and associations, including the Allied Health Council, the Bermuda Health Council and as former chairwoman of the Board of Physiotherapists and the Bermuda Physiotherapy Association.

She is assisted by Jermecca Lightbourne, her primary support staff member, who joined the Hands On Therapy team three years ago. She has more than eight years of managerial experience.

Ms Dill said she is very grateful to her family and the Bermuda community for their support over the past two decades.

She said: “In 20 years I have seen many miracles, especially people that have got better that were not expected to. My passion was there then, and still remains to help everyone that walks through my doors.”

The clinic is at 82 South Road, Warwick.
