A local business is cooling people off on hot days with its homemade Popsicles.

Duch Pops Bermuda is based in Dockyard and since it opened it has been offering a sweet treat and to children and adults — become a favourite among locals and tourists.

The business was created two years ago and has set up its stall at popular events including Cup Match and Destination Dockyard every Monday evening.

The idea for the Popsicle business came when owner Rickeisha Burgess was travelling on a trip for her former business, Duchess Boutique.

“I saw a niche in the market, and thought it would be a great addition to the frozen food category,” she said.

The name Duch Pops was developed from Duchess Boutique.

“After closing the business, I inherited the nickname Duchess, which I shortened to Duch.”

Ms Burgess mentioned that all the Popsicles are hand-crafted and homemade.

She said the best part is indulging in the treat is that you do not have to feel guilty.

“All our pops are healthy, made with agave and some with an addition of a bit of cane sugar,” Ms Burgess said.

Agave nectar is a popular sweetener in the natural health community.

Duch Pops has various flavours. Among the top choices is the signature Duch Pop, which is a blend of mixed berries, pineapple, kiwi, peach and mango, while another popular choice is the Whistling Frog which is a mixture of cucumber and lemon flavours.

As the summer draws to a close, the business will change gears to offer more seasonal choices.

“For the winter we will still be selling our winter-flavoured Popsicles. They will be apple pie, pumpkin pie and Oreo cookie just to name a few,” Ms Burgess added.

Duch Pops opens daily from 10am. For more information contact 705-3824
