Contemporary store &Partners is going into its second year in business by adding new products made by Bermudians.

Peter Lapsley and wife Andrea Sundt’s gift shop launched two years ago at the Vallis Building on Par-la-Ville Road, close to the junction with Front Street.

They sell a range of items as well as brands that reflect their tastes.

In addition to their Bermudian makers such as Catherine White prints, Beelovers Beekeeping candles, Concrete Works, Alex Davidson’s Cedar Spoons, Bermuda Marble Bottles, Laura Elizabeth Glass and Rebecca Little Jewellery, they now have added more to their list.

Ms Sundt said: “We are really excited to add Bermudian brands, Jahday Ford’s glassware, a young Bermudian designer who blends traditional and contemporary glassmaking techniques and materials.

“Louisa Bermingham’s ceramics, well known locally for her artwork, she has created a new line combining an eclectic mix of functional and whimsical pieces inspired by all manner of things, from weathered limestone to cement trucks.

“In her own words they are an assortment of sweet little animal figures, bowls, plates and tiny sculptures, for adults and children alike.

“Chris Cabral’s knotted rope mats are based on traditional rope knotting as practised by sailors and are now created to add a functional beauty to the home.

“And we have Patrice Morgan’s Fennel line of designer leather goods. A handbag designer, Patrice has returned to the island with a vision for her line and the beautiful leather goods to back it up.

“These Bermudian designer/makers are creating unique, well-crafted items in a range of materials and are great examples of our islands home-grown talent.”

Ms Sundt said their first intention is to cater to locals. “We wanted to bring a little bit of Scandinavian and Brooklyn design as well as highlighting the tremendous makers and designers on island,” she said.

“Our tourist interest has been growing though and we can usually surprise them with something unique whether it comes from Denmark, San Francisco or St George’s.”

She said she is constantly on the look out for new and exciting products that fit their aesthetic and our goal is to continue to be a go-to place for unique gifts in Bermuda.

Opening hours are weekdays from 10am to 6pm, and 10am to 5pm on Saturdays and the store will be open for late night shopping on most Fridays in December, as well as some Christmas shopping events.
