Peter Dunlop is a new partner at Walkers Bermuda and has joined the firm’s insolvency and dispute resolution group.

Kevin Taylor, managing partner and head of the insolvency and dispute resolution group, said Mr Dunlop brought with him a “wealth of experience”.

“We are very pleased that he has agreed to join our team. His expertise and experience will enhance our already strong contentious practice in Bermuda,” he said.

Mr Dunlop has more than 20 years of legal experience acquired in Bermuda and overseas. He was most recently with ASW Law Ltd.

A Walkers Bermuda spokesman described Mr Dunlop as an experienced advocate who “specialises in the arbitration of complex international reinsurance disputes across a broad range of industries, as well as non-contentious advice in the areas of contract drafting and new products underwriting support to the world’s leading reinsurers and ILS funds”.

He added: “Peter also has extensive experience in the litigation of corporate and commercial disputes, fraud cases and insolvency-related matters, advising directors, shareholders, Bermuda companies, private equity and hedge funds, and insolvency practitioners and other advisers.”

Mr Dunlop is also a chartered property and casualty underwriter and spent about five years at XL Catlin, in Bermuda. He also spent six months on secondment at General Re UK Ltd, in London, working on global regulatory investigations into finite reinsurance practices.
