The Bermuda office of law firm Conyers has been recognised as Band 1 in the corporate and finance, insurance, and dispute resolution categories in the 2020 edition of Chambers Global.

Conyers’ worldwide practice was ranked Band 1 in the international private client: offshore firms category.

Thirteen lawyers in the Bermuda practice were ranked by Chambers, a leading reference and ranking guide for law firms and lawyers based purely on client feedback.

Christian Luthi, director and chairman of Conyers, said: “We are proud once again to receive high acclaim for the level of expertise and quality of service we provide to our clients worldwide. Our rankings confirm our position as a leading international law firm and the exceptional talent of our team.”

The firm said it has the highest number of ranked lawyers in Bermuda across the aforementioned practice areas.

Conyers said its corporate and finance practice is the only one with Band 1 ranking in Bermuda. It is described by Chambers as a “prestigious market-leading group, active on many of the region’s most high-profile transactions”. The team is “notable for the breadth of its corporate practice, advising clients on investment funds, M&A and banking mandates”.

Clients commended the firm as “extremely knowledgeable and responsive” and said “they provided a high level of service”. Ranked lawyers include Graham Collis (eminent practitioner), David Cooke and Marcello Ausenda (both Band 1), Jason Piney and London-based Sheba Raza.

Conyers’ insurance practice is ranked Band 1, as is practice head Charles Collis. Christopher Garrod is also ranked. The insurance team is described as a “top-drawer group with comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of insurance, reinsurance and related transactional matters”.

In the dispute resolution category, Conyers maintained its Band 1 position and is described as a “market-leading litigation group that maintains an excellent reputation for trust disputes”. Peers noted: “Conyers continues to be one of the strongest firms in terms of expertise.” Ranked lawyers include Ben Adamson (Band 1), Mr Luthi and Jeffrey Elkinson.

In the global-wide international private client: offshore firms category, Conyers is described as “a great firm” with a “highly regarded and long-established international private client and trust practice”. Ranked lawyers include Alec Anderson (Band 1), Craig MacIntyre and Peter Pearman.
