Bermuda’s electric rental car pioneers have added a new feature to their fleet of vehicles.Wi-fi is now available as an option in Current Vehicles’ Twizys after a deal was struck with One Communications. Users are provided with a unique password to gain access to the network for the cost of $7.50 a day.“We wanted to give our customers connectivity island-wide to help make the island a bit more accessible,” says Piers Carr, Current Vehicles’ founder and chief executive officer.“This helps give better access to our app, and also allows our customers to stream music, and interact with social media. “Now, they can upload photos of the island in real time. That aligns with part of the overall marketing strategy of the island. “That is a great sales tool for Bermuda and we want to help facilitate that.”Mr Carr said more innovations are on the way.“One Communications has been a great partner of ours. This is stage one of a slightly bigger picture to come.”Mr Carr said the Current Vehicles app, available from The App Store, is downloaded an average of 1,000 times a month. Launched in April, the app features content about island attractions, including beaches, museums, and walking trails as well as curated half and full-day themed itineraries. Current Vehicles has rental outlets at Hamilton Princess & Beach Club, Fairmont Southampton hotel, and The Loren.
