Bermudian model targets top title

Model Alize Bailey

Bermudian Vogue magazine model Alize Bailey has set her sights on the international modelling competition Face of the World.

Ms Bailey, who started her career in the Evolution Fashion Show in Bermuda and won the Top Model Worldwide 2017 public vote award, said her recent appearance in Vogue was her most prestigious yet.

She told The Royal Gazette: “It cannot get any better than Vogue. Surprisingly, it was a very lovely experience. All of the models and backstage staff were so friendly and professional.”

Ms Bailey, 20, featured on Vogue UK’s website after her appearance during London Fashion Week in September.

She said: “I feel that modelling in London Fashion Week provided great exposure and I hope that this experience could lead to many more high-calibre fashion shows in the future.

“I plan to go around to London agencies in attempts to sign with them. Signing with an agency would be a major step for my modelling career and it will hopefully deliver frequent modelling work.

“Also, I will be participating in an international modelling competition called Face of the World on November 4, when I’ll be representing Bermuda.”

But Ms Bailey said it was unlikely she would be visiting home in the near future.

She added: “I would love to return to Bermuda for the Bermuda Fashion Festival this year, but the show dates clash with the show dates for my competition in Birmingham.”

Ms Bailey had to pass two auditions with more than 4,000 applicants for Top Model UK and Top Model Worldwide competitions, which were held in London in March.

The former Warwick Academy pupil said: “I started modelling in 2011 with the annual Bermuda Evolution Fashion Show.

“Since then modelling has developed into a passion of mine and I am beyond thankful for everyone that has supported me thus far.”
