Business owners in the north of Hamilton are to get an online boost from a free website designed to highlight services in the area.
The site, www.backatown.bm, uses the popular name for the district, which Hamilton mayor Charles Gosling called a “culturally rich area of the city”.
Mr Gosling added: “I encourage all businesses of North Hamilton to embrace this opportunity and be a part of an inclusive directory alongside their neighbours.”
The community listing was the brainchild of HI Group of Companies, based on the city’s Dundonald Street.
Charles O’Brien, the chairman, said the directory of retailers and services had taken years to set up. He added: “We realise that not all businesses can afford to have a website.”
The site, featuring pictures, details and descriptions of businesses, was also backed by the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation, which is helping to collect information.
Businesses of the designated economic empowerment zone can get in touch with the HI Group at 292-4695 or by e-mail at email@example.com.
A public launch is expected to take place in the near future.
