Island’s rainfall count below average

Showers resulted in more than an inch of rain on the island yesterday.

By the middle of the afternoon, the Bermuda Weather Service had recorded 1.07in but the overall total rainfall is still short of what is “normal” for this point in the year.

It took the total for 2018 so far, logged at LF Wade Airport, from 40.31in to 41.38in.

Meteorologist Eric Drewitz said the normal level of rainfall for this time of year is 44.63in, meaning the island remains about 3.25in below.

Some areas were hit with heavy dumps of rain yesterday morning but the weather service had not received any reports of flooding.
