Bus stoppages after water outage
Passengers were left stranded after the bus service stopped abruptly yesterday.
A Department of Public Transportation spokesman said the stoppage was because of a water outage at Fort Langton, Devonshire.
He said the regular service resumed at 9.15am after Works and Engineering staff attended the scene.
The Royal Gazette spoke with a number of frustrated passengers at Hamilton bus terminal at about 9.30am.
One man, who asked not to be named, said: “I take the bus from town to Dockyard every day to see my daughter. I don’t know how I’m going to get to see her without the bus. Now I wish I hadn’t sold my car.”
Another man said that his “entire schedule” was derailed by the delays.
He said: “I was hoping to be out of town by this morning but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. It’s a shame.”
The spokesman said: “The DPT apologises for the inconvenience caused to the travelling public.”
The Department of Transportation did not respond to requests for more details on why the water outage led to a stoppage, and Bermuda Industrial Union president Chris Furbert could not be reached.
