A graphic designer has captured the goals and glory of the Bermuda football team at the Concacaf Gold Cup in a series of posters to be exhibited next month.

Terrina Nolan, a senior digital graphic and motion designer for The Royal Gazette, created the pieces showcasing the national team on metallic and acrylic.

The posters will be entered into a judged show at the Bermuda Society of Arts from September 6.

Ms Nolan, who has worked for publications including Vogue and Apple Inc in London, said: “The idea emerged from my excitement for the Bermuda national football players getting to the Gold Cup stage for the first time in history.

“I followed their progression and didn’t see much marketing or promotion so I decided to give them a boost.”

Ms Nolan bought professional photographs of the team from Adam Hunger of Getty Images and other photography websites and manipulated the images in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.

She created posters of the team as well as individual players, which have gone viral on Instagram.

She will be presenting some of the players with their own personal copies of the posters ahead of the exhibition opening.

The featured players include Dale Eve, the Bermuda goalkeeper who was praised for his performances against Haiti, Costa Rica and Nicaragua in June.

Ms Nolan said: “His passion is what ignited me to craft a few pieces for social media — between him and Willie Clemons.”

Eve, 24, said: “It is amazing. Her work is phenomenal. When we were away, she was doing Instagram posts for the team. It is definitely going in my room, I have a blank wall for it.”

Eve remembers when the photograph on his poster was taken.

He recalled: “In that moment, I was telling the referee off for not making a call I disagreed with. It was the third game against Nicaragua. I get very in tune in the game, believe me.”

The former Stoke City prospect who now lives and works in Bermuda and plays for Robin Hood, feels confident he will return to professional football after an outstanding performance at the Gold Cup.

“Football is my life,” he said. “There are people working around the clock now to get me back. I would prefer to go to England if I can.”

He has many special memories from the Gold Cup, which were encapsulated in a video online by Ajani Tucker, a Bermudian videographer, photographer and graphic designer.

Ms Nolan added: “Outside of track and field I love football. I loved creating something that added to the impact that these young men had on their country.

“They made us proud and proved that we may be small in size but are mighty at heart.”

The Call for Artists Fall Members Show opens at the BSoA on September 6.
