A radio show focused on maths will be back on the air from today.

The radio quiz, presented by private maths tuition school Planet Math, will return to radio station Vibe 103 on Mondays and Fridays at 7.30am.

The show will be sponsored by the investment professionals association CFA Society Bermuda.

Robin Masters, a spokeswoman for the CFASB, said she thought the organisation should work with Planet Math founders Sergio Pitcher and Kevin Warner after she first met them.

She added: “We recognise the need to ensure all children develop solid basic maths skills and we support their mission to make maths fun — to replace the fear of maths with confidence.”

Ms Masters said the partnership with Planet Math was an “obvious fit” as the CFASB started to look at financial literacy education for schoolchildren.

She explained: “The sooner you start to learn about money, the easier it is to learn how to manage your financial future.

“Children can begin to understand the difference between needs and wants, and how money can be a tool to help you get to where you want to be.

“That message can be embedded in some basic fun maths questions.”

Mr Pitcher explained that each episode of the show would pose two questions.

He added: “For the month of September, the theme for all the questions will revolve around financial literacy.

“Children can begin to learn why money is important and how we earn money.”

Mr Pitcher said that there would also be “thought provoking” questions for adults. He added that each week’s questions would tie into the content of the Building Financial Literacy programme offered by the CFASB at Bermuda College.

Mr Pitcher added: “Listeners will get insight into what the course will be offering and at the same time have fun answering math questions which are centred around financial literacy.”

The Bermuda College Pace programme will provide an introduction to basic money and financial concepts through a series of four weekly sessions starting on September 25.
