Family gather for Dulcie’s 100th birthday

Century mark: Dulcie R. Zuill, who celebrated her 100th birthday on Friday

The proud family of Dulcie Zuill celebrated the Southampton resident’s 100th birthday on Friday in the same home where she was born and lived all her life.

The centenarian, wife of the late Alfred Zuill and mother of three, got a special service yesterday at St Anne’s Anglican Church honouring her milestone.

Ms Zuill is the mother of Alfred “Kelly” Zuill, the Bermuda Broadcasting Company’s “Mr Gospel” music and radio personality, along with Belvin Zuill and the late Neil Zuill.

She lives next door to Vernon Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church, which stands on land donated by her family.

Ms Zuill worships each Sunday at St Anne’s, where she was christened, confirmed and married, and where her son “Kelly” fulfilled the wish of her mother, Rosalie Simons, by getting confirmed as a member in 1975 by Bishop Eric Trapp. He also serves there as a Eucharistic minister and sings in the choir.

A statement shared by her family wished Ms Zuill a happy 100th birthday, adding: “You made it.”
