Resurfacing work at the Hamilton bus terminal last weekend cost more than $95,000.

A spokesman for the public works ministry said the Department of Public Transportation leased the property from the Corporation of Hamilton and was responsible for repairs to the asphalt surface.

He added: “East End Asphalt Ltd was contracted as they are the only highways asphalting company outside of the Government Department of Works and Engineering, who were fully engaged in other asphalting projects.”

The work started in March, but was suspended due to Covid-19.

The spokesman added: “Working during the day instead of the night as originally planned proved safer, faster, less expensive, and made good use of the buses being out of service.”

He said the total cost of the work was $95,030.

The spokesman added that Covid-19 precautions were being drawn up to manage cleaning, queuing and social-distancing when the bus service restarted.

He said: “This includes line markings and railings.”
