Space strategy on legislative agenda

Updates on the plan to reopen schools, borrowing agreements between the Government and banks, and the national space strategy after the American launch of the SpaceX-manned rocket will be dealt with in ministerial statements in the House of Assembly today.There is also likely to be a debate on an amendment to merchant shipping laws dealing with Bermudian pilots being required on ships navigating inshore waters.Emergency powers legislation will be tabled and amendments will include provision for temporary curfews of up to seven days in the interests of public safety or public health. Walter Roban, the home affairs minister, will discuss how Bermuda could take advantage of space exploration after the recent launch of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Florida.Curtis Dickinson, the finance minister, will give an update on the Government’s bank borrowings.
