Nomination day: PLP grabs three seats

Mr Perry says: “They needed someone to run against Renée Ming. I’m a St George’s boy, lived there all my life. I’d like to get it built back up and in the right direction.”Noon: Michael Dunkley, the former premier who many have speculated would not be involved as the OBA sought to retire its old guard, arrives with his nomination form.Noon: Veteran MP Patricia Gordon-Pamplin is among the OBA contingent heading into the church hall.11.55am: Zane DeSilva declares his wish to return to Cabinet: “I never stopped working. I continue to work behind the scenes with the ministry and with the Premier. I am ready to serve my Premier, my country and yes, the Cabinet if I can.”11.50am: The first One Bermuda Alliance candidate is spotted, as Scott Pearman arrives at the church.11.50am: Wayne Caines tells The Royal Gazette: “I never stopped serving. I’m focusing on our mandate, I will lead from the front and I’m ready and committed.”11.45am: Supporters cheer and chant as the PLP candidates pose for a group photo.11.35am: David Burt confirms the PLP is fielding a full slate of 36 candidates. He says: “The party is going to work towards every single vote.”11.30am: David Burt takes a moment to enjoy a dance as he leaves the church.11.25am: PLP MPs enter the building one at a time to confirm they will be running once again, including Scott Simmons, Zane DeSilva, Wayne Caines, Dennis Lister III, Christopher Famous, Kim Wilson, Jamahl Simmons, Dennis Lister Jr, Wayne Furbert, Walter Roban and Jason Hayward. The Premier had indicated earlier that all sitting MPs would stand as candidates, except Rolfe Commissiong and Michael Scott.11.15am: David Burt, the Premier, is joined by his wife Kristin at the front of the PLP group.11.15am: Gombey drummers and one Gombey dancer lead a PLP procession down King Street towards the church.11.15am: The Reverend Maria Seaman leaves the church hall after a “smooth” check-in. She intends to run as an independent candidate in Warwick North Central.10.55am: The Progressive Labour Party has a stall opposite the Seventh-day Adventist Church with balloons and music playing. Several people in PLP T-shirts, some with flags, are in the church grounds awaiting the arrival of candidates.10.55am: Independent David W. Burch attends with intention to stand in C24 Warwick South East.
