Insurance industry millennials get their say

Millennials panel: Malcolm Butterfield, CEO of conference organiser the Bermuda Insurance Institute

Panellists will discuss issues ranging from diversity and inclusion to the views of millennials during a major insurance conference next week.

The Bermuda Insurance Market Conference, entitled “Bermuda affirms its relevance in a new re/insurance era”, will take place on October 11 at O’Hara House, on Bermudiana Road.

Patrick Tannock, managing director at Axa XL and XL Bermuda Ltd chief executive officer, insurance, will deliver the keynote speech.

Among the panellists will be Brian O’Hara, Stephen Catlin, Alison Hill, Kirsten Beasley, Joe Rego, Michael Krefta and Paul Scope.

Wayne Caines, the national security minister, will also hold a fireside chat with Kim Wilkerson, of Axa XL.

The six panel discussions will examine:

• Diversity and inclusion: from talking to execution, can Bermuda make this step?

• Corporate social responsibility: key drivers for a successful CSR agenda.

• Mergers and acquisitions: a future perspective for M&A in the re/insurance industry.

• Youth panel: insurance industry insights — a millennial view from our future leaders.

• Is Bermuda still relevant in the global marketplace?

• CEO panel: will Bermuda maintain its leadership status as a global player in the re/insurance market?

Malcolm Butterfield, CEO of organiser the Bermuda Insurance Institute, said: “This is a very exciting event, drawing together top-rate speakers and panellists.

“In particular, I am very pleased that we have a panel that involves young people who will give us their insights into the future of the re/insurance industry. They are our future leaders, so their views are important.”

The conference starts at 8.30am after registration.

Individual registration fees are $300 per person for BII members and $375 for non-members. To register go to http://bii.bm/CourseStatus.awp?&course=184CONF1011R
