Restoration House Ministries International is hosting a 24-hour community prayer room in partnership with the Anglican Church of Bermuda, today. Founder Eugenia Robinson was given the vision to create a safe space for believers and non-believers to have a place to pray and be prayed for. “In 2016, I was inspired to write a proposal that focused on community prayer days to be hosted by the First Church of God, Angle Street, starting in 2017,” she said. “With the permission of my pastors, Andre Bean and Reverend Dr Madeline Hayward, I moved forward and offered open-door opportunities of prayer in the community on a quarterly basis. This included a week of prayer, two 12-hour community prayer rooms and a 24-hour community prayer room.”The first 24-hour community prayer room was originally scheduled at the First Church of God, Angle Street.However, due to logistical reasons, it required a change of venue. In May 2017, Ms Robinson reached out to the Right Reverend Nicholas Dill, the Anglican Bishop of Bermuda, who was happy to lend support and provide a venue for the event. The partnership has continued over the past three years and Ms Robinson is excited to offer the event for a fourth time, albeit virtually this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.“The 24-hour community prayer room will once again meet the current needs of the community. No matter what is going on in the world, prayer is always necessary and relevant. It is important that the community experiences hope during this worldwide pandemic and prayer is a means to mobilise and spread that sense of hope.“Also, there is power in numbers just as in prayer. Praying collectively creates consistency, change, and guidance to cope during and after the pandemic.“There is so much going on in the world that requires the healing hand of God and prayer is essential at this time. “In the case of the Black Lives Matter movement and police brutality, I can confidently say that there are individuals around the world who pray on this topic daily because it touches every family, neighbourhood, parish/city, country and nation. We are praying against the root, causes and effects of slavery and racism. “We are praying prayers of protection, peace and forgiveness, all while declaring positive words, success, and prosperity for the future.”Those who may be missing communal prayer meetings are encouraged to join in on this virtual experience no matter what their denomination. “We invite you, the public, near and far to join us on Zoom, or on Facebook Live and take some time to agree with us in prayer. This prayer room experience is about community — which includes all denominations, ministries, home churches, non-Christians and non-believers. “The goal is to stand united for matters concerning our local and global society.”The theme for this year, Fear Not! Be Strong and Courageous, was inspired by Joshua 1:6, 7, 9. Ms Robinson said: “The vision is to include volunteers from around the world and the creative arts.
