The Bermuda National Athletics Association has received new equipment as a result of a partnership between the Bermuda Olympic Association and the Pan American Sports Organisation.

The equipment — which includes three laptop computers, two wind gauges, 50 hurdles and eight starting blocks — were purchased to help the BNAA in the development of athletics locally.

The laptops are required to support automated timing, which can capture the photo finish of each race, manage the data to compile results with athletes’ names and events and to interface with electronic scoreboards, wind gauges and display boards at a meet.

They also enable the officials to post results to the web in real time.

“With more local and international events taking place, we need to ensure that all of our equipment is in the best condition to support the efforts of our athletes and officials when participating in a meet,” the BNAA said in a statement.

Judy Simons, the BOA president, said: “The BOA is very pleased to be able to manage different programmes such as Paso that enables Bermuda athletes to train and compete with up to date equipment”.
