Lambe continues scoring spree

Eye for goal: Lambe has scored four league goals for Carlisle this season

Reggie Lambe scored his fourth league goal of the season in Carlisle United’s 5-0 win away to Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.

The Bermuda midfielder compounded the home side’s misery, scoring his side’s fourth in the 75th minute as he took Jamie Devitt’s pass and slid the ball under goalkeeper Ben Garratt. The lively Lambe also hit the post in the closing minutes and won his side a second-half penalty.

Defender Danny Grainger scored twice as Carlisle won for the first time in six games.

Left back Grainger stole the show with his left-foot strike flying into the far corner to hand the visiting side a thirteenth-minute lead.

After the break, Michael Raynes tripped Lambe as he tore into the box, allowing Grainger to send goalkeeper Ben Garratt the wrong way from the penalty spot for his second in the 48th minute.

Then, when Grainger’s inswinging corner bounced across the box, Raynes diverted the ball into his own net in the 72nd minute. Lambe then added a fourth before substitute Hallam Hope raced clear to fire in a fifth in stoppage time.
