Robin Hood have further bolstered their squad for the new season by signing Tomiko Goater and Dominique Williams from Dandy Town.

Hood have been one of the busiest teams during the summer transfer window, having already snapped up Phillip Parsons from X-Roads and Casey Castle from PHC Zebras.

They have also been boosted by Aaron Nelson’s decision to step up to the first team after impressing for the club’s Corona League side last season.

Although Hood came second in the league and won the FA Cup last season, they lacked strength in depth, a concern that Steven Simons, the new Hood president, feels they have now addressed.

“We’re really excited about the quality of player that we have been able to bring in,” said Simons, who officially replaces Joel Duffy as Hood president next week. “There were games last season when John Barry [Nusum, the Hood coach] had to suit up and play when he had injuries or players off island.

“He would admit we had a struggle in terms of squad depth. One of goals during the off-season was to address that while trying to keep the core group together. We also wanted to add some depth in key positions with quality players, which I think we have done. We want to be able to compete on all fronts.”

Simons is particularly excited by the signing of forward Goater, who was the Bermuda Football Association’s Young Player of the Year in 2016-17. He also believes wide man Castle, utility player Parsons and defender Williams, a former Hood player, will be useful acquisitions.

“Tomiko is someone we have targeted for a while; he has the right character and work ethic that we look for at Robin Hood,” said Simons, a former Hood striker. “Dominique is someone who used to play for Hood a few years ago and it’s nice to have him back to help in the backline with Jaylon [Bather].

“Phil is a really good utility player and John Barry sees him as someone who can play pretty much anywhere. Casey was a bit frustrated at PHC with a lack of opportunities and is looking for a new challenge. He will fit the system that we’re looking to put in place this season.”

Simons said he is excited by his new challenge and aims to build on his predecessor Duffy’s good work. “I’ve been at the club for close to ten years,” Simons added. “I’m happy to take on a bit more responsibility and hope I can continue the legacy of the former presidents.”
