BAA 5 Paget Lions 2
BAA emerged victorious courtesy of two late strikes from substitute Kenyade McQueen at Southampton Oval yesterday.
Paget Lions provided early glimmers of hope after Dion Stovell curled his free kick inches over the crossbar in the fifteenth minute.
BAA showed the Lions how to finish after a corner kick from Troy Tucker was met by a powerful header from Tyrell Burgess in the 27th minute.
BAA scored again on the half-hour mark when a deep cross eluded Paget goalkeeper Jason Smith and fell to Keishen Bean to head into the open net.
The Lions roared back in the 32nd minute when Akale Bean was released through on goal and dispatched his effort home.
Drewonde Bascome nearly restored BAA’s two-goal advantage when he raced in on goal but shot just wide.
Bascome redeemed himself in the 42nd minute after latching onto a deep pass to slot past the stranded Lions goalkeeper.
In the 58th minute, Bean had his vicious drive turned brilliantly aside by Iris. Bascome was then rebuffed by Smith as the BAA man tried to slip the ball under him from close range.
Poor defending by Paget then allowed BAA substitute Kenyade McQueen to take advantage and score.
The Lions came up lucky in the 73rd minute when substitute Chare Smith squeezed his shot through a congested penalty area and into the net. Paget’s Nelson Carpenter then hit the crossbar.
BAA scored again in the final minute, after Bean fed a soft pass to McQueen, who make no mistake.
