BAA exodus headlines heavy transfer activity

A total of 99 players obtained releases during the initial transfer period, up from 81 the previous year, with 23 leaving BAA who have withdrawn from the Premier Division.

North Village were one of the busiest clubs during the transfer period, obtaining 13 players from BAA alone, including their former captain Keishen Bean, who returns to Bernard Park after one year at BAA. No doubt the return of Kenny Thompson to North Village from BAA as football director and head coach influenced some of the players to move to the Rams, among them Quintonio Lema and Troy Tucker. Nathan Rego, a product of Somerset Eagles, is rejoining them after spending last season at BAA, while Tyrell Burgess, their former captain, is joining X-Roads.

Demetre Daniels is heading back to Village after one season at Devonshire Cougars, while Tariq Bean of Robin Hood also makes the move.

Cougars also lost striker Chae Brangman to Robin Hood and Jamel Amory to Dandy Town, but picked up three players from BAA, Llineiko Millett, Drewonde Bascome and Errin Butterfield-Tankard. They also signed Jason Lee from North Village, Ajai Daniels from Southampton Rangers and goalkeeper Troy Hall Jr who is seeking a new challenge after a disappointing season at Dandy Town when he stopped playing during the season.

Also heading to the Rec are Shaki Swan from Flanagan’s Onions and Hamilton Parish trio Andrew Samuels, Chris Caisey and Reid Trott. Shayne Hollis also leaves Parish, this time headed to promoted side Southampton Rangers.

Rangers and Somerset Eagles have brought in some new faces ahead of their season back in the top flight, with Rangers losing six players but also gaining the experienced Damon Ming from Dandy Town. Veteran defender McQuinn Burch and goalkeeper Jason Smith have returned to Rangers from relegated club Paget, who lost eight players, including Robert Richardson and Tahjae Welch to PHC.

Somerset Eagles lost only three players, with Leo Burgess returning to Somerset Trojans after just one season at White Hill where his goals helped lead them to promotion. Also making the move is Teniko Eve from Devonshire Colts and Jonathan Bean and Rayquan Woodley-Smith from Ireland Rangers and Marcelos Thomas from North Village.

Dandy Town strengthened their squad with the return of Ernest Trott and Clay Darrell from Boulevard, Teiko Lowe from X-Roads and Jomei Bean-Lindo from Devonshire Colts. Veteran Keith Jennings has joined Somerset Trojans from North Village while Justin Corday leaves the Trojans for Robin Hood who also signed Shannon Burchall from Southampton Rangers.

Jahron Dickinson is returning to St George’s after one season with X-Roads. The First Division club, who did not lose any players, also signed veteran striker Lashon Dill from North Village and Diego McCallan from neighbours St David’s.
