Dandy Town 2 Devonshire Cougars 1Dandy Town clinched a spot in the Dudley Eve Trophy final last night when captain Angelo Simmons scored the winner in the 88th minute against the run of play at Goose Gosling Field.Devonshire Cougars had several chances in the second half to seal the victory, before Simmons made them pay with a finish from close range just when it seemed the second match of the night would also go into extra time.Jahkari Furbert gave Town the lead in the seventeenth minute when he curled a left-footed shot into the top corner from the edge of the box. Town blew a golden chance to double their lead in the 23rd minute when Kwame Steede laid on a pass inside the box for Judah Chapman who sliced his shot wide of an open goal from the edge of the six yard box.Cougars made Town pay for that miss when they scored the equaliser nine minutes later after goalkeeper Treadwell Gibbons was blown down for a foul on Trey Tucker as he raced towards the edge of his penalty area. Drewonde Bascome sent Gibbons the wrong way with his spot-kick. Cougars carried that momentum into the second half and created the better chances as they kept Town under pressure after Simmons’s free kick was tipped around the far post by goalkeeper Ajai Daniels. Cougars went close after that with Jahzarde Samuels having a shot blocked before Tucker put the rebound over the bar at the far post. Then Bascome blasted over the top from inside the box as Cougars kept on the pressure. A good run down the left flank by full back Lovintz Tota opened the Town defence again before Tota took a return pass from Bascome and lifted his shot over the bar. After that Chris Caisey intercepted a pass 25 yards from goal before racing into the box and smashing his shot against the near upright as Cougars went close again.
