Wells notches ninth of the season

Nahki Wells scored his ninth goal of the season in Queens Park Rangers’ 2-2 draw at home to Middlesbrough in the Sky Bet Championship yesterday.The Bermuda forward struck in the 25th minute, his seventh league goal of the campaign, with a neat finish to cancel out Britt Assombalonga’s opener in the 23rd minute.Grant Hall headed Rangers in front on the stroke of half-time, but Assombalonga levelled again 20 minutes from time.Mark Warburton, the QPR manager said: “It was a sloppy start and we found ourselves a goal down, and it was a very good response from the boys.“Everyone is asking me about the mistake [for Middlesbrough’s second goal], but we are human. “As a team we have got to take responsibility and be more clinical in front of the opponent’s goal.“We have taken two points from 12 but the boys have been hard done by in a couple of games.“They are working hard and we are in a good position as it is a tight league.”Nathan Trott played in AFC Wimbledon’s 1-1 draw at home to Doncaster Rovers in the FA Cup first round yesterday.Doncaster were denied an opener on the half-hour mark when Trott, on loan from Premier League side West Ham United, superbly tipped Kwame Thomas’s header wide. Joe Pigott put the home side in front after 43 minutes with a glancing header before Tom Anderson secured Doncaster a replay with a 63rd-minute equaliser.Reggie Lambe came on as a 63rd-minute substitute in Cambridge United’s 1-1 draw at home to Exeter City in the FA Cup first round.Sam Smith scored in added time to earn a draw for Cambridge who fell behind after Alex Fisher scored for Exeter in the eleventh minute.Also in action in the FA Cup first round was Jonté Smith, who was substituted in the 66th minute in Cheltenham Town’s 1-1 draw at home against Swindon Town.Alex Addai’s last-gasp goal earned the home side a replay against Swindon who took the lead in the 91st minute through Jerry Yates.All the drama unfolded in stoppage time, with Jerry Yates giving Swindon the lead in the 91st minute before Addai levelled almost immediately.Osagi Bascome and Justin Donawa came on as a second-half substitutes in Darlington’s 2-2 draw away to Walsall in the FA Cup first round.Both teams were reduced to ten men after Walsall defender Dan Scarr was sent off for a second booking in the 82nd minute, while Darlington full back Ben Hedley received a second yellow card in the 90th minute.Omar Holness give the National League North side the lead in the seventeenth minute but Walsall levelled four minutes from time through substitute Caolan Lavery.Darlington goalkeeper Liam Connell punched Alfie Bates’s corner into his own net to give Walsall the lead in the 89th minute, but Darlington hit back when Joe Wheatley poked in Bascome’s free kick.Meanwhile, Roger Lee helped Tallinna Kalev keep a clean sheet in their 3-0 win over Tulevik in the Estonian top flight yesterday.Watson Fabrice Hounkpe and a brace from Wale Musa Alli accounted for Kalev’s goals.
