Tevahn Tyrell will arrive at new club Durham City with heavy expectations on his shoulders. The Bermuda forward has agreed terms with the Northern League Second Division side subject to international clearance. John Woolnough, the Durham City director of football, considers Tyrell as a “massive signing” for the club.“Tevahn is a winner, his attitude is first class and he has a big point to prove,” he told the club’s website. “He knows he has what it takes to play at a much higher level and he’s now ready to prove that. Physically, he is very impressive; he looks like a Premier League footballer.“His physical presence can mean his quality on the ball is often overlooked; this lad can actually play with the ball at his feet and he’s very quick. Everywhere he’s played, he’s scored goals.“I’m really excited to see Tevahn in action and I’m sure the rest of the Durham City fans will be, too. This is a massive signing for us.”Tyrell is expected to make a smooth transition having had stints with Northern Premier League sides Ilkeston and Mickleover Sports.Tyrell, who scored in his final game for Robin Hood in their FA Cup quarter-final match at home to Somerset Trojans last weekend, was on a trial at Darlington last summer before suffering a shoulder injury.“He looks a different person to when he arrived at Darlington, much stronger and fitter,” Woolnough added.Tyrell, who represented Bermuda at the Concacaf Under-20 Championship in Costa Rica in 2017, also had a brief stint with Dutch Third Division outfit Achilles ‘29 in 2018.Woolnough is now looking forward to Tyrell being granted international clearance.“This can take up to a month, but I’m confident we can get this done very quickly,” he said. Tyrell joined Durham a week after Bermuda team-mate Dale Eve signed for Spennymoor, of the Vanarama National League North.Eve, who has signed until the end of the season made his debut for Spennymoor in a 4-1 win over Stockton Town in the Durham Challenge Cup semi-final at Brewery Field on Tuesday.Eve was once considered a top prospect by former Premier League side Stoke City and had brief spells with Forest Green Rovers and Ilkeston before returning to Bermuda.Eve has spent the past few months pursuing a pro contract in England and had trials at Bolton Wanderers in Sky Bet League One and Mansfield Town in League Two.
