Susan Rebello says she is honoured to compete against some of the world’s top amateur women’s bodybuilders at the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness Pro League Caribbean Grand Prix Bermuda.The five-times national women’s champion is competing in the women’s physique open and women’s bodybuilding open divisions at the event, which will be held at the Ruth Seaton James Centre for the Performing Arts at CedarBridge Academy today.“I had been prepping for Las Vegas Olympia since April so the Grand Prix presented a chance for me to develop an improved package,” Rebello said. “I’m leaner than I was in Vegas.”The 47-year-old, who trains at Ultimate Fitness Club, finished fifth in the women’s physique Class A at the Joe Weider’s Olympia Amateur Las Vegas at the Orleans Hotel in Nevada in September.“Eleven years has gone into my presentation,” she said. “All the past experiences has cumulative effect in the present. I am always learning. Hopefully, all going to plan, I’ll present my best physique to date.”Regardless of the outcome, Rebello says her primary goal has already been met.“My main objective really has already been achieved,” she said. “I am more balanced aesthetically than I’ve been before.“Just getting up there with the calibre of athlete that has come to grace our local stage is a privilege and I hope to do Bermuda proud.”Rebello is one of two former multiple Bermuda women’s champions competing, which also includes Sueallen Lottimore. Lottimore is competing in women’s physique, women’s bodybuilding and women’s bodybuilding masters 35 and over divisions. The IFBB Pro League Caribbean Grand Prix Bermuda features athletes competing in bodybuilding, classic physique, men’s physique, figure, bikini and fitness. The overall winners of each class will earn IFBB pro cards.Competitors will be judged by a five-member panel, which includes Steve Weinberger, regarded as IFBB’s leading judge.
