Phillips continues superb form in Bahamas

On a roll: Bermudian tennis player Daniel Phillips

Daniel Phillips, fresh off his title victory in the under-14 division of the TIHTA Aruba Tournament, won his first four matches in the Junkanoo Bowl in Bahamas at the weekend.

Phillips, who beat Enmanuel Muñoz in the final in Aruba last week, carried on where he left off, beating local player Dentry Mortimer 4-0, 4-0 on Saturday before winning his second match of the day by the same scoreline against Virgil Homere of Haiti.

The 13-year-old made it four straight wins yesterday, beating Clint Newry, of Bahamas, 4-0, 4-1 before another 4-0, 4-0 triumph over Dejean Francees of Bonaire.

The under-14 players are competing in a round robin of five matches, with the best two of three sets to four games, ahead of the knockout round, which starts today.

Phillips is playing in the Cotecc Under-14 circuit and will play in the Jamaica Junior Tournament in Kingston from July 9 to 15.
