Information sessions on Airbnb Experiences

The Bermuda Tourism Authority has partnered with Airbnb to host information sessions in advance of the introduction of Airbnb Experiences.

Airbnb Experiences will bring visitors together with passionate locals for unique tourism experiences.

Each Experience is featured on the Airbnb website and marketed to millions of Airbnb customers through the brand’s website, social media and e-mail channels.

The programme is expected to roll out in Bermuda next spring after successful launches in Cuba, Puerto Rico and Jamaica.

Pat Phillip-Fairn, chief product and experiences development officer at the BTA, said: “Hosting an Airbnb Experience is an opportunity for a Bermudian to highlight his or her insider knowledge of the island and reach a worldwide audience of highly engaged travellers.

“This is another avenue for local entrepreneurs to present their distinct offerings, while still working with other distribution partners.

“It also presents an opportunity for the destination as a whole because Airbnb Experiences helps to set us apart from our competitors.”

Carlos Munoz, who manages public policy and communications for Airbnb in the Caribbean and Central America, said the company is excited about launching Airbnb Experiences in Bermuda.

He said: “The roll-out of Experiences on the island is only possible because of the productive partnership with the BTA and we look forward to offering guests the heartfelt hospitality of our Bermudian hosts.”

The BTA and Airbnb will host information sessions on November 28 and 29 at the BTA office at 22 Church Street, Hamilton.

The November 28 meeting will run from 5.30pm to 7pm, while the November 29 meeting will run from 8.30am to 10am.

Those interested in attending must RSVP at experiencesarecomingtobermuda.splashthat.com for the first session or experiencesarecomingtobermudam.splashthat.com for the second.
