Sun canopies erected at Horseshoe Bay car park
Sun canopies have been installed at a popular beach to provide shelter for taxi and shuttle bus passengers.
Transport minister Zane DeSilva said the canopies in the car park at Horseshoe Bay in Southampton would reduce heat and UV exposure and improve comfort while beachgoers waited for transport.
Mr DeSilva said: “We are all familiar with heat and humidity of our summer months.
“Locals and visitors to our beaches should not have to suffer the full brunt of the sun while waiting for their transportation to arrive.
“The installation of these sun canopies ... will have a very positive impact on the beach going experience for all.”
Lieutenant-Colonel David Burch, the Minister of Public Works, worked with Mr DeSilva on the project.
