Jessica Lewis was unable to repeat her medal-winning success of two years ago after placing fifth in the T53 100 metres at the World Para Athletics Championships in London.

Lewis crossed the finish line in 17.40sec — the exact same time she posted at the previous championships in Doha, Qatar, when she claimed bronze.

Samantha Kinghorn, of Britain, won the race in 16.65, with Angela Ballard, of Australia, coming second in 16.84 and Hongzhuan Zhou, of China, third after producing a season-best time of 16.92.

Lewis also competed in the 800 final at the London Stadium yesterday, finishing ninth in 2:06.86. Zhou won the race in 1:54.72.

Lewis, 24, competed in four events at the London Stadium. She just missed out on a medal in the 200, setting a personal best of 30.47 to come fourth. The Bermudian also delivered a season-best time of 1:01.12 in the 400 final to place seventh.

Lewis won gold in the 100 at the Parapan Am Games in Toronto in 2015 to become the first Bermudian to medal at a major para-sports competition.
