Raynor urges Berkeleyites to lace up for Fun Run

Former Berkeley Institute student Donna Raynor

Donna Raynor is urging other Berkeleyites to sign up for the Fun Run and Walk on Saturday, February 10, which will mark the Berkeley Institute’s 120th anniversary.

Raynor, who is the race director along with Debbie Hunter, is considering running in the 5.2 kilometre race, start at 8.30am on Court Street outside the PLP headquarters, which was the school’s first location.

Runners will head north towards TCD and then follow the course past Dutton Avenue and then left onto Palmetto Road before turning right at the lights outside the Tennis Stadium and heading up Langton Hill.

From there, the runners will run west on North Shore towards Spanish Point, before turning left and returning to Berkeley via St John’s Road, finishing on the school field.

“I might put on my running shoes, since it is a Berkeley event, fun and no pressure,” said Raynor, the president of the Bermuda National Athletics Association.

“This is a fun race, so it would be nice to see people come out and give something back to the school,” Raynor added.

There is an entry fee of $35 for adults and $15 for students, with proceeds benefiting the Berkeley Educational Society.

Registration is online at www.trackie.com and deadline for registration is next Friday.
