Double joy for Bobb at state championships

Strides ahead: Caitlyn Bobb is competing in her first season for Hartford Tech in Maryland

Caitlyn Bobb has become a state champion in two events in her first season competing in athletics.

Bobb, a freshman at Harford Technical High School in Bel Air, Maryland, earned a double in the 200 and 400 metres at the Maryland State Track and Field Championships last weekend.

The Bermudian’s season bests of 24.87 in the 200 and 55.83 in the 400 helped the Lady Cobras win their first 2A Division Championship. Bobb, 15, also helped her school win the 4x100 and 4x200.

“Winning’s always the goal — I always want to win,” said Bobb, whose father David Bobb is the head track and field coach at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Her mother Dawnnette is a former teacher and coach.

“I also wanted to beat the clock and, as a freshman, I had to get past 56 [in the 200].”
