Impressive showings for Outerbridge and Sealey

The Bermuda Pacers Track Club competed in Tennessee last weekend

Ryan Outerbridge and Kazhi Sealey led the charge for Bermuda Pacers Track Club competing at the AAU Cross-Country Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee at the weekend. The pair produced impressive top-ten showings in their individual age groups competing in ideal conditions at Victor Ashe Park on Saturday, with Sealey placing eighth in the 15-16 boys’ division and Outerbridge tenth in the boys’ 17-18 division.They both competed on the same 5k course in the young men’s division comprised of boys 15 to 18, with Sealey finishing fifteenth overall in a time of 17min 23sec and Outerbridge 23rd in 17:32. More than 142 athletes competed in the race. J’auza James placed 23rd in the boys’ 14-year-old division, covering the 4K course in 14:39. Azari Jones, the youngest member of the team, also finished 23rd in the girls’ 9-10 division that competed over a 3K course.Jehzari Talbot finished 32nd among the 86 runners in the 15-16 young women’s division with a time of 22:31 on her debut at the championships.Jace Donawa finished 46th in the boys’ 11-12 division with a time of 12:03 and Jeada Grant 50th among the girls in the same age group in a time of 13:26. Tobiah Goodchild finished in 68th in the boys’ 9-10 in a time of 13:55.Amir Outerbridge finished 80th in the boys’ 11-12 division in a time of 14:11 and Jaelyn Grant 89th in the boys’ 13-year-old division in a time of 16:07.The championships featured 2,000 athletes between the ages of 7 and 18 representing 70 teams from across the United States and Canada.“I have nothing but high praise for our athletes considering how many athletes were in each race and these are many of the best cross country runners in the United States,” Cal Simons, the Bermuda Pacers Track Club head coach, said.“This event is one of the largest cross-country events in the country. “Also many of these athletes must quality to compete in this event.”
