Bermuda had three athletes reach Carifta Games qualifying times yesterday with middle-distance runners Kahzi Sealey, Tommy Marshall and Ryan Marshall achieving standards in the first track meet of the year at the National Stadium.Sealey and Marshall qualified in the under-17 boys 3,000 metres, with Sealey clocking a time of 9min, 34sec to go under the qualifying time of 9:45, while Marshall also went under the mark with a time of 9:40. Outerbridge achieved the standard in the under-20 5,000 when he clocked a time of 16:50 to go under the qualifying time of 17:00. Three other athletes went close to qualifying in other events, with Daria Desmond just missing out in the under-17 1,500 where he ran a time of 5:08, just three seconds over the qualifying time of 5:05. Nirobi Smith-Mills, the gold medal-winner from last year in the under-17 boys’ 800, ran a time of 1:58:58 with the standing being 1:55:50. Meanwhile, Caitlyn Bobb, who also won a gold medal in the Carifta Games in the Cayman Islands last year in the under-17 girls 400, as well as a bronze in the 4x100 relay, was outstanding on the track for her school Harford Tech.She recorded one of the fastest flat track times in the country in the 300 when she set a personal best of 39.34 at the southern Maryland Classic at the Prince George’s County Sportsplex yesterday.The time ranks eighth fastest in the country this season, with only Bella Whittaker, of Mount De Sales, going faster on a flat track with her time of 39.22.
